Summer Cosmetic Trends
With time trends keep on evolving. Every season too has its own dictates. Same is true of the fashion and make up fads. Check out what the experts have to say in this respect this time of the year.
Firstly and most importantly it is advised to check the expiry dates of your cosmetics every other month.
Also keep this in mind when shopping for new make up. Make sure that the cosmetics still have a shelf life before you slip them into your make up kit and onto your dressing table. With each season, carefully look through your make up kit and discard any items that are outdated. This is critical, especially with eye make up that can expire and potentially cause painful infections. Also remember not to share your make up with anyone else to prevent spread of germs and infection. This is truer in case of facial brushes which are deemed the main carrier of skin infections if used jointly. Another prudent you can take is to try take your own make up tools to a beauty salon when you want to get something (make up, manicure, pedicure, etc) done professionally.
This season’s trends in cosmetics reflect the fashion trends-shimmer and shine! Softness and subtlety! from super glossy lip gloss to candy like eye make up with glitter to make your eyes truly pop and stand out, subtle shimmer is definitely on. The trick is to keep as close to the natural look as possible so do away with the heavily accessorized items and gaudy colors.
In addition to shimmer and shine, the color of eye and lip make up is quite subtle. Gone are the vibrant colors and eye popping shades of eye shadow like blues, greens or reddish hues. Instead, pale browns, ivories, grays, tans, and other natural colors are all the rage. Lip shades are also a bit more subdued, with a nude lip, subtle terra cotta or a sheer pink gloss being incredibly hot. Lipstick is out today, with delicately tainted lip gloss taking over the first place in purses all over the country. These lip glosses are made in every color under the sun and many mimic the appearance of lipstick with a much smoother and glossier look. For individuals looking to care for their lips and enjoy that terrific nude lip look, consider using a simple hydrating stick.
The days of pressed powder may be numbered as today’s hot products include cream powders that go on thick but dries sheer and ultra light. This option is great for those who would like a bit more coverage than pressed powder offers, but do not want to deal with the mess and hassle of using foundation. Another popular trend along this line is the cream blush, which also goes on like a cream but dries powder. Also cream, blushes prevent that unnatural coloring that appears on many women cheeks.
Go light on the heavy cream stuff though as the hot and humid weather does not allow use of any greasy or sticky stuff. Look out for light moisturizers and summer suited face wash (like once containing lemon or cucumber components).
With regards perfumes, put away those heavy intoxicating perfumes in the drawer to hibernate till the nippy weather returns. For the summer season go light on scents too. Opt for breezy once with fresh flowery fragrances. And invest a little in fresh and moderately sweet smelling powders and body deodorants to keep you feeling fresh all through that long hot sultry summer.
Keep your hair clean and healthy too by going for everyday use shampoo. Contrary to the generally believed notion, washing your hair every day does not damage them if shampooed with the right shampoo of a good quality. Invest a little and find one that suits your hair type.
