It does not matter what kind of exercise you choose. It can be almost anything that suits you, as long as it does three things: strengthens your muscles, increases the flexibility of your joints & raises your heartbeat to between 120 & 150 beats per minute for about three minutes a day (you can check heartbeat rate by taking your pulse at the wrist for six seconds & then multiplying by 10). Begin today forcing your self to examine & discard the various alibis you set up excuse your self for not exercising. Write them down if necessary & see how pathetic they are: I shall start tomorrow after I have finished the spring cleaning . . . before I go on holiday . . . I don’t have the right clothes to wear . . . It’s my glands – I cant help being flabby. Exercises to music usually help to strengthen the resolve, especially if you choose a piece conjures up memories of a film or show you enjoyed. And dancing classes – whether ballet, tap or modern dance – are more like fun than exercise. If you know you lack the discipline to do a daily dozen, find friends who need to keep fit as mush as you do – there will be plenty of them about – and arrange to exercise together, when the house is quiet or the office is empty during a lunch hour.
Alternatively, join a class. Remember, any exercise makes the heart & body work more efficiently & contributes to your goal of looking good, feeling great & staying that way.
